The fourth episode premiered on September 6, 2026, and is part of the show's eight-episode first season. The series follows new recruit John Stewart and legendary Green Lantern Hal Jordan as they investigate a mysterious murder with extraterrestrial connections in the American heartland.
Lanterns Season 1 Episode 4 Overview
In Episode 4, John develops a new theory about where the mysterious Manhunter may be hiding. As the investigation progresses, John and Hal take their next steps with Sheriff Kerry Kane.
At the same time, Hal's decision to visit his former mentor Sinestro begins to have serious consequences. The episode moves between the present-day investigation and important events from Hal's past, gradually revealing more about the larger mystery.
John Stewart and Hal Jordan
The relationship between John and Hal remains at the center of the episode.
John is still learning what it means to be a Green Lantern, while Hal's experience and unconventional methods continue to influence his young partner. However, the investigation creates new tension between them, forcing both characters to question how much they can trust one another.
The episode gives their partnership a more complicated dynamic as the mystery surrounding the Manhunter becomes increasingly personal.
The Manhunter Mystery
One of the biggest developments in Episode 4 involves the identity of the mysterious Manhunter.
The episode reveals that Zoe, played by Poorna Jagannathan, is connected to the Manhunter mystery in a major way. The revelation changes the way several earlier events can be interpreted and gives the investigation a new direction.
The story also deliberately misdirects viewers by making another character appear to be the Manhunter before the truth becomes clearer.
Hal Jordan and Sinestro
Hal's meeting with Sinestro is another important part of the episode.
The flashback storyline provides additional information about Hal's history and his search for answers about the Manhunters. Sinestro's involvement also creates uncertainty about Hal's decisions and the information he has kept from John.
This storyline adds another layer to the central mystery while expanding the history of the Green Lantern mythology within the new DC Universe.
A Major Test for John Stewart
John faces an important choice when the Guardians put pressure on him to take Hal's ring and replace him.
Instead of simply following their instructions, John must decide where his loyalty lies and whether he can trust Hal despite everything that has happened.
His decision becomes an important moment in his development as a Green Lantern.
